All Aviles in one step

We are the ideal accommodation option for those looking to discover the north of Asturias. The city of Avilés, crossed by the estuary of the same name, has achieved international notoriety since the construction of the Niemeyer Cultural Center. Located opposite the estuary and only 15 minutes on foot from thehotel Oca Villa de Avilés, this is the most important architectural work in Europe by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. If you are passing through Avilés you can not miss this icon of the city with its tower and auditorium with capacity for more than a thousand people in which the main musical events of the city are celebrated.

Avilés, Oviedo and Gijón, a triangle 30 minutes away

Avilés is just 30 minutes by car from Oviedo to the south and 30 minutes from Gijón to the east. A perfect enclave for those who want to know Asturias and its three main cities without having to change accommodation. In addition, just 12 minutes by car (just over 5 km) is the beach of San Xuan. Ideal for those days of summer in which to bathe in the Cantabrian Sea happens to be an option of leisure in your vacation in Asturias. Other places of special interest and must-visit during your stay in Avilés are: The plaza de España, the historic center of the city, the Ferrera park, the plaza de Camposagrado, the Church of San Francisco and Galiana Street.

The North Way

The Hotel Oca Villa de Avilés is a perfect accommodation to rest and recover strength for all those pilgrims who finish stage 21 between Gijón and Avilés and are ready to embark on stage 22 between Avilés and Soto de Luiña (38 km). Our hotel has special services for pilgrims, especially regarding breakfast, so they can gather strength first thing in the morning before traveling the 38 kilometers that separates them from Soto de Luiña. In addition, in our restaurant El Galeón, you will be able to taste unique and delicious dishes of traditional Asturian food as you pass through the Principality.

And remember about the free parking spaces for bicycles!! Hey, and we have thought of everything, in those places you will have at your disposal a toolbox, an inflator and a support to take a look at the wheels after giving them march!!

The so-called Camino de Santiago del Norte runs along the Cantabrian coast. Its starting point is located in the Guipuzcoan city of Irún, from where 32 stages pass to the town of Arzúa, where the Camino del Norte joins to the French Way. A wonderful route in which the sea and the mountain combine throughout the Camino.

Although the stage between Gijón and Avilés consists of an affordable distance and without large slopes beyond the Monte Areo, it will be necessary to regain energy because the stage between Avilés and Solo de Luiña is much more demanding.

Composed by 38km of continuous ups and downs, this stage is one of those considered as ‘breaking legs’. Therefore, nothing better than having a quality accommodation in which to recover energy before starting a new journey of Camino. You need OCA Hotels!!
